Prayer Fuel For Missionaries - The Joy of Raising a Support Team

Borg-Family-October-2017.jpg

By the time you read this, we are praying that Mark and Gina Borg (with their four youngest children, Zara, James, Caleb and Rose), will already be in Malta! Why do they believe God wants them in Malta?

For Mark who is a Maltese Aussie, Malta is in his blood. He would love nothing better than for more of his own people to know Christ and come to fruitful maturity. Gina too, has come to love Malta and embraced God’s leading towards this tiny island across the other side of the world. She reflects here on the way God has clarified their vision and allowed them to raise the prayer and financial support for Malta.

When we visited Malta in 2016, we had a strong sense of the good work God was calling us to there. But we were reluctant to come back to Sydney – to a long journey of getting jobs and then sharing our heart for Malta with many believers and churches. By the grace of God, He has led us on a journey for around a year of developing partners. If we could have known then what it feels like now, we would have been so much more enthusiastic about this journey! We’d have sped home with joy, knowing God was going to raise an amazing support team of pray-ers, carers, and givers! Now our vision of strengthening local Maltese believers, encouraging outreach, and being involved in indigenous church planting has solidified.

This has been a season of God’s faithfulness surprising us regularly. Looking into the eyes of a grateful giver has shifted our perspective on what it means to be on the receiving end of the giving process. We’ve seen testimony after testimony of our Father who provides; from the timing of an SMS request lining up with a prayer for somewhere to place mission support, to children selling their toys to support their friends (our kids). Whether it’s a new job or the sale of a motor bike, we rejoice alongside our brothers and sisters for believing God provides! So thank you to all who have put into action their good desire to give. To know we don’t go alone is a game- changer. We are His sent ones working together!
